Advanced Certification

Learn more about MECP Levels of Certification, the IAAO Certificate of Educational Recognition and IAAO Professional Designations.

  • Advanced MECP Certification
    • Track II levels of MECP certification provide the opportunity to achieve greater professionalism and higher levels of certification -- Assessment Evaluator I (AEI), Assessment Evaluator II (AEII), and Mississippi Assessment Evaluator (MAE).
    • Authorized under Mississippi Code Section 27-3-52, a financial bonus of $3,500 annually is authorized for certain qualifying county officials earning all Track II levels of certification.
    • IAAO Courses provide the educational foundation for Track II certification levels.
    • Application for Track II levels of MECP certification must be made to the Education and Certification Advisory Board.

  • IAAO Certificates of Educational Recognition
    • Mississippi Code Section 25-3-3 provides up to $1,500 in additional compensation annually for tax assessors earning an IAAO Certificate of Educational Recognition.

    • All IAAO Certificate of Educational Recognition holders must also be IAAO members.

Complete IAAO Workshop 151
Complete any two (2) other IAAO 5-day courses (electives)

  • IAAO Professional Designations
    • Mississippi Code Section 25-3-3 provides up to $15,000 in additional compensation annually for tax assessors earning certain of four (4) advanced IAAO professional designations.
    • Through the Professional Designation Program (PDP), IAAO offers five (5) internationally recognized professional designations: Certified Assessment Evaluator (CAE), Residential Evaluation Specialist (RES), Cadastral Mapping Specialist (CMS), Personal Property Specialist (PPS) and Assessment Administration Specialist (AAS).
    • The Mississippi Code recognizes four (4) of these designations (CMS, PPS, RES and CAE) and provides that county tax assessors may receive additional compensation for earning one or more of them.
